A PICINIC FOR BRAIDEN

Our homestudy agency put on their 10th Annual Picinic for all the kids adopted with help of their agency. It was great to see all the kiddos running around HAPPY!!! Here are are a FEW pictures of Braiden enjoying his day...

Adoption(s) Timeline

August 2006 - Sent in application to start home study with Across the World Adoptions so we could adopt from Russia.

September 2006 - Completed home study, which included lots paperwork, fingerprinting, physicals, parenting classes and meetings with a social worker.

October 2006 - Sent in application to placing agency, Alliance for Children and were informed that our dossier would be sent to St. Petersburg, Russia. Also sent in our application and home study to CIS for approval.

November 2006 - Fingerprinting done at CIS. Received our I171-H from CIS (this gives us permission to adopt an orphan).

December 2006 - Our dossier was sent to St. Petersburg, Russia.

January 29, 2007 - We received our referral.

February 12, 2007 - Our dossier was registerd for Roman and we were traveling by the 27th to St. Petersburg to meet him.

March 1, 2007 - We met Roman and spent 4 wonderful days with him. We then had to travel home without him and wait for a court date.

April 26, 2007 - Informed we have a court date on 5/7/07 and needed to leave for Russia by 5/2/2007.

May 7, 2007 - Court and a favorable decision that effective immediately, Braiden Roman is an Anders.

May 8, 2007 - Picked up Braiden from Baby House #8 and left on a train to Moscow for visa.

May 11, 2007 - Leaving Russia to bring Braiden to his forever home. YEAH!!!

September 6, 2007 - Meeting with our social worker to prepare our first post-placement report for Braiden. Only 3 more to go!

March 27, 2008 - Meeting with our social worker to prepare our second post-placement report. Only 2 more to go! That means Braiden will be 5 years old.

May 7-8, 2008 - Celebrate our first Gotcha Day with Braiden!

May 11, 2008 - Braiden has been home for 1 year!

September 8, 2008 - Attended First Exploring Orientation with Sierra Adoption Services for Foster/Adopt.

September 9 & 11, 2008 - Called Sierra Adoption Services to let them know we are ready to move forward and scheduled our next classes and preliminary interview.

September 26, 2008 - We had our preliminary interview with the family developer and recieved the application and intake packet.

September 27, 2008 - Attended Exploring Adoption class - Part I.

September 29, 2008 - Turned in application, along with other required paperwork.

October 15, 2008 - Attended class on concurrent planning aka being a flexible family.

November 15, 2008 - Attend Exploring Adoption class - Part II.

February 3, 2009 - All the paperwork is in and we are ready for our homestudy to begin!

February 10, 2009 - We have been assigned a social worker. Interviews for our homestudy will begin a couple of weeks.

March 10, 2009 - Meeting with social worker to prepare our third post-placement report for Braiden. Only 1 more to go!

March, 2009 - First meeting with social worker for Foster/Adoption.

March 16, 2009 - Josh had his individual meeting with social worker.

March 20, 2009 - Valerie has her individual meeting with social worker.

March 24, 2009 - Braiden has his individual meeting with social worker.

April 20, 2009 - We meet Mason.

May 7-8, 2009 - Celebrate our second Gotcha Day with Braiden!

May 11, 2009 - Braiden has been home for 2 years!

May 20, 2009 - Homestudy done and signed. Now we wait for foster certification.

June 1, 2009 - Guardianship of Mason is approved. Foster/Adoption on hold.

December 1, 2009 - Petition to Terminate Parental Rights and Adoption Petition filed. Hearing to terminate parental rights is set for January 29, 2010.

December 25, 2009 - Citation goes in the paper.

January 15, 2010 -Citation in the paper is complete.

January 29, 2010 - Parental rights are terminated. Mason is freed for adoption.

February 1, 2010 - First set of paperwork completed. First meeting with State social worker. Given second set of paperwork.

February 1 & 3, 2010 - Fingerprinting completed.

Februrary 17, 2010 - Josh & Valerie have physicals for adoption.

February 23, 2010 - Mason has 15 month check up and physical for the adoption.

February 18, 2010 - Second meeitng with State social worker.

March 05, 2010 - Last placement report information and pictures sent to Alliance for Braiden!!!

March 15, 2010 - Braiden has kindergarten physical and physical for adoption.

April 6, 2010 - Last meeting with State social worker.

April 20, 2010 - We met Mason one year ago today!

May 7, 2010 - Mason's adoption and Braiden's re-adoption (so he can have a California birth certificate) was FINALIZED!!! THEY ARE OURS FOREVER!!!
